Adsense as a tool

February 28, 2007 on 9:40 pm | In Adsense |

The ads displayed on a page are triggered based on the onpage optimization. This can be very useful for checking how well a page is optimized for your target keywords. Of course the page needs to be spidered by Google’s ad-bot before you can draw any conclusions.  Please note that this does not mean you will rank for the keywords since many factors are considered such as link popularity. But it is amazing just how quickly and exactly the ads displayed will match the content of a page. You can also draw some conclusions about keyword popularity when a page is more or less equally optimized for multiple keywords. More than likely the keyword with the highest number of advertisers and/or higher bids will tend to dominate the ad space. You can think of the ads displayed as a keyword meter.

  1. I have noticed that the generic ads lately seem to be related to lip gloss and lip balm. By generic I mean ads that are displayed before the ads-bot has spidered a page. I wonder if this is based on a keyword bid or if the advertisers are aware of this. It is possible they are bidding on very common terms like blog or article.

It’s not uncommon on the internet to hear of someone who just started out online one day and makes a mountain of money the next. It’s not unusual for the people who have been online for awhile who spend their time learning and testing which methods work, they create a brand new site, do everything correctly and make a tonne of money online in just a matter of weeks. Crazy but true.
